Only the male peafowl is called a peacock.
Female peafowl is called a peahen.
Young are called peachicks.
Peafowl belong to pheasant family.
A group of peafowls is called a harem.
An all-female group of peafowl is called a bevy, a muster or a party.
They are omnivores.
Their length including the tail can reach 5 feet.

They can weigh between 8-13 pounds.
They like to eat insects, arthropods, amphibians, flowers and seeds.
There are three different types of species in the peafowl family.
Two of these originate in Asia and the other is of African descent.
The African species is called the Congo peafowl.
From Asia, we have the blue (Indian) peafowl and green peafowl.
